Cherries Ripe: figures in 18th century dress in a garden, a man leaning over a wall from his perch in a cherry tree, to hand down cherries to two women, one of whom stands lifting her apron to hold them, the other sitting on the right, filling a straw hat.
Émile Pierre Metzmacher was a Parisian painter specialising in genre and portraiture. A graduate of Boulanger, Gleyre and Willems, he debuted at the Salon in 1863. He obtained honorable mentions for his work in the years 1879 and 1889.
