George Straton Ferrier was a Scottish painter and etcher, George Straton Ferrier ‘Stratton’ was best known for his marine and landscape scenes. He began exhibiting his art in 1872 and during the following years his paintings, watercolours and etchings were included in exhibitions at the Royal Academy, London, Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, and at the Royal Scottish Academy. George Ferrier was a full member of the Royal Society of Painters and Etchers (1881), the Royal Scottish Watercolour Society, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and the Royal Watercolour Society.
