Charles Moreau was a painter of genre scenes who was born at the Chateau Renard (Loiret) on 12 February 1830. He was a pupil of d’Ary Scheffert and of Dupuis. Moreau exhibited at the Paris Salon between 1848 and 1881, he also exhibited in London and at the Manchester Art Gallery. The artist was known to have lived most of his life in Paris.
