Johannes Leeb (also called Johann Leeb) was a German sculptor and stonemason. Johannes Leeb was born on September 1, 1790 in Memmingen , Upper Swabia . At the age of 21 he went to Paris and was enrolled on February 27, 1816 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . During his studies, he made plaster models for architectural decorations. A scholarship for Rome gave him the order for a life-size statue of Leda . After he had created several works of art in Rome, he returned in 1826 to Munich. There he died on 5 July 1863. After Johannes Leeb streets were named in his hometown of Memmingen and at its place of action. The tomb of Johannes Leeb is located at the Old Southern Cemetery in Munich.
