Francesco Barzaghi was an Italian sculptor. Born in Milan in 1839, he attended the studies Tantardini and Puttinati . Then he enrolled at ‘ Academy of Brera where he attended courses Hunters. It is companion of studies Vincenzo Vela who is stylistically close in the manner of Realism . Statue of Luciano Manara, the public gardens Among his early works are the Goddess of flowers and Phryne, of 1,867 , presented in Paris in the same year and today the Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Milan. It performs sacred works for the Duomo of Milan : the saints Ilario, Wenceslas ( 1865 ) and Adelaide and that of Bergamo : Saints Bartholomew and Thomas ( 1870 ). His works are the celebratory Risorgimento Verdi for the foyer of the Teatro alla Scala , and the Monument to Alessandro Manzoni in Piazza San Fedele in Milan ( 1883 ). Always Milamo are the equestrian statue of Napoleon III to Sempione Park and those of Luciano Manara to the Public Gardens of Porta Venezia and Francesco Hayez in the square Brera. At the Accademia di Brera palace sculpted in 1874 the monument to Count Pompeo Litta Biumi , opened on the occasion of the commemoration of the historic Milan. Other statues are dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele II in Bergamo ( 1884 ), Lodi ( 1883 ) and Genoa ( 1886 ) and Garibaldi in Crema and Soresina . Venice runs the monument to Tommaseo ( 1882 ). In 1880 he receives the teaching position of sculpture at the Brera , a position he retains until 1892 , the year of his death.
