The Resurrection of Lazarus is a famous miracle from the Gospel of John (John 11) where Jesus raises his friend Lazarus of Bethany from the dead, four days after his death, demonstrating his divine power over life and death and foreshadowing Jesus’ own resurrection. Jesus arrives in Bethany, comforts Lazarus’ sisters, Martha and Mary, then goes to the tomb, tells people to remove the stone, prays, and calls Lazarus out, who emerges wrapped in burial cloths. This event solidified belief in Jesus as the Messiah and is a central theme in Christian art and theology, symbolizing hope and resurrection.
