Medium: Antique engraving on wove paper after the original painting by master engraver Lumb Stocks (British, 1812 – 1892) and John Outrim 1810-1889 or later).
Year: 1854

Framed Dimensions: Approximately 14 x 19 inches.
Framing: This piece has been professionally matted and framed using all new materials.
People working in a vineyard, a man in the centre foreground lifting a basket of grapes on his shoulders, another talking to a woman who kneels beside a tub, into which a boy is pouring a basketfull of grapes, others loading tubs onto a cart, to the left.
Thomas Uwins was an English portrait, subject, genre and landscape painter (in watercolour and oil), and a book illustrator. He became a full member of the Old Watercolour Society and a Royal Academician, and held a number of high-profile art appointments including librarian of the Royal Academy, Surveyor of Pictures to Queen Victoria and Keeper of the National Gallery.
