John Frederick Tennant (1796-1872) is internationally known for his genre scenes depicting fishermen, their boats and surrounding environs. He was a member of the Society of British Artists and exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1820 to 1897. His work is conserved at the Museum of Montreal.
