Jean Claude Picot, also known as just Picot (France, 1933-2020) was a French contemporary painter who was greatly influenced by the Fauvism style. His works emphasized painterly qualities and strong color over the representational or realistic values, calling himself a Post-Impressionist artist. His compositions usually displayed french cityscapes, landscapes, romances and animation and followed his own personal sense of “joie de vivre” (joy of living). Albert Scaglione considered being able to take his art to other collectors a privilege.Picot worked in a Post-Impressionist manner, reducing flowers, trees, houses, and figures to their essential forms. He exposed his artworks in several countries, such as the United States, Belgium, Norway, and Australia. Picot lived part of each year in the southern part of France and allegedly found inspiration in the “Cote d’Azur”. His work abounds with natural beauty, featuring panoramic views charged with the unique light of the Mediterranean.
